The Guild is made up of people both amateur and professional who are interested in spinning, weaving and dyeing. Our members are also interested in affiliated crafts such as feltmaking, basketry, knitting, woven tapestry and braid making, to name a few.

Our Guild is affiliated to the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, which has some 102 Guilds mostly from the UK. The Association produces a quarterly magazine called "The Journal" which is available through local Guilds or by individual subscription.

We want "to preserve and improve the expertise of handweaving, spinning and dyeing for the benefit of members and the promotion of public awareness in such craftmanship"1 To do this we demonstrate our skills to the public and meet together as a focus for sharing experience.

We meet every 2nd Saturday of the month, usually in Low Barn, Harksome Hill, West Hunsbury, Northampton, but see our programme for any changes to normal. Some of these meetings will have speakers. Others will be workshops, demonstrations on practical techniques or outings. There is always someone available to help and advise the less experienced. Click here for map.

Yes, anyone with an interest in spinning, weaving, dyeing or a related craft is very welcome. We have a few professional members, but most are keen amateurs.

Our current membership fee is £20 per annum 2004 to 2006, or £2.50 per month for visitors. There is sometimes an extra fee to cover a particularly expensive meeting, this is noted in our programme. The Guild is funded by it's membership fee.

You do not have to live in Northamptonshire, we have members from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Leicestershire too.

Come along to one of our meetings or telephone Jean Littler our secretary on 01604 890534, or Judith Sharp 01933 311991 (Mobile 07866 884 651) email judith.sharp@tesco.net
